Emotions play an important part in our daily lives. Fear is one such emotion; an instinctual response to potential danger. Fear, as opposed to Love, has a function to remind you of your separateness from others and the rest of the world and undermines your freedom.
A snippet of Robert Frost's Storm Fear is recreated in the piece.
Flying the Flag
100cm x 150cm
Acrylic on stretched box canvas
As a British Asian, born in Sri Lanka, emigrating to India, before settling in London, the notion of identity is a source of restless exploration for me. Exacerbated by strong cultural influences from both sides, a highly attuned awareness of the self and the alter ego(s)... the canvas is filled.
Throes
28cm x 35cm
Acrylic on canvas board
Liberty is the power to live and act independently and freely without compulsion. Democracy is the vehicle by which we achieve this. This piece visually demonstrates the on-going struggle for freedom that many peoples still face.
This piece for sale at minimum bid of £200 with half the proceeds going to the National Liberal Party.

Comic Strip
50cm x 20cm (x3)
Acrylic on stretched box canvas"My whole reason for being in this industry is to satisfy the desire of the men in the world who basically don't care much for women and want to see the men in my industry getting even with the women they couldn't have when they were growing up. So we come on a woman's face or brutalise her sexually: we're getting even for lost dreams." Bill Marigold, male porn star
Incubi
100cm x 100cm
Mixed media / Acrylic on stretched box canvas3D Work
Nightmares disturb us all from time to time. The ancients and religious believed that evil spirits (named Incubi) afflicted a sleeping person, preying upon them in their most vulnerable state. We know of course that there is no external demons but only our internal ones that deprive us of sound sleep. Our fears... our shame, our guilt... our sense of unworthiness. These are the demons.

“Visions for those too tired to sleep, These seeds cast a film over eyes which weep.”
I began this piece in May 2009 at the close of the Sri Lankan Civil War. In those last few weeks of the war millions around the world watched helplessly as 40,000 Tamils and other minorities were indiscrimately killed in Sri Lanka. Shocked numb by the senseless waste of life and angered by the injustice, I gave voice through art. Last week my 6 year old son questioned me on the purpose of war. I am reminded of Eve Merriam's quote "I dream of giving birth to a child who will ask, "Mother, what was war?"
